About Justin Walton
The third person riff: “Justin Walton started a design and marketing firm called Walton Design in Santa Barbara, CA in 2000. He worked as the Director of eMarketing for Somera Ventures, a Venture Capital Firm and is now a Search Marketing Consultant with Position Technologies in Geneva, IL, right outside of Chicago.”
It really is quite fascinating just how many different ways one defines themselves and how they interact with the world.
This blog is a place for me to share what I’ve learned and created with the world. To share what I find that’s valuable. I have helped a lot of companies make a lot of money through technology, design, branding and marketing initiatives. I love reading great writing and I love to write. I view the creation of the successful written word as a form of fine art. I create digital art. I strive to stay at the cutting edge of web technologies, understanding people, social media and every other form of new media. I study psychology, advertising, marketing, business and philosophy.
I love quality, value, beauty, knowledge and intrigue. I love the human mind. I try to understand people. I love technology. I analyze and participate in media of many different kinds. I love communication. The kind that is satisfying to absorb, engages you, speaks to you, teaches you, moves you, inspires you.
I consume a lot of information and media, getting close to 400 feeds as of mid 2007. I create digital art and collaborate with others through the Web and the ever growing world of social media. I believe in social tagging/bookmarking and I publicly share my bookmarks. I believe that a Modern Businessman is a chameleon of sorts, wearing many different hats - but doing it very well. Creative, sharp, analytical, rational, experimental, and an overall perfectionist, with a hunger and thirst for as much information as they can get their hands, I mean minds, on.
I’m a complete geek, although I’m not too into Star Trek (House kicks some ass). I almost became an architect (interned with a great one in Santa Barbara, CA and worked on Denis Franz’s place). I am a Marketer and advocate quality, participation and engagement on the Web and in New Media.
I have worked with some amazingly talented people. I have learned from a lot of talented people. I love what happens when teams of talented people work together. I like to dream about how the world could be, I like to talk about it too. Because of all this I’ve ended up, along with many other things, a business man, marketer, brand builder, philosophy junkie, psychology lover, graphic designer, web developer, search marketer, opmtizer, social media enthusiast, semantic web dreamer, analytics stickler and conversion maximization nut… I absorb a lot, create a lot, follow a lot of people, manage a lot of relationships, refine, innovate, maximize, repeat. I work my ass off. I’ve done some pretty cool marketing, design, branding and web development for some pretty awesome companies.
So I say in summary, the continued purpose of this blog is to share what I learn in life, marketing and business - and to share what I create. I am attempting to add value to this wonderful thing we call the Web, and I am writing to give back in return for all the things I absorb from the rest of you.
